LAUTOKA City is expected to be filled with the colour blue as the champions Design Engineering Lautoka side marches through the main street to celebrate their soccer achievements today.

In collaboration with the launching of their new calendar by Lautoka City Council CEO Jone Nakauvadara yesterday highlighted their success this year, Lautoka fans have been urged to turn up in numbers to support their soccer heroes.

Lautoka soccer president Abdul Kadar said the fans played a huge role in the success of the team and their presence would lift the morale of the players.

He said the sales of the team's new calendar would also coincide with the victory celebration.

"Today we stand here proud to be the champions of the Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion series, Vodafone Premier League and the Courts IDC champ," said Kadar.

"We urge the fans to dress in blue and come out in huge numbers and be part of the celebration

"We will sell our calendar for $10 to generate money to make it easier for us the executives in looking after our players and of course to cater for our O-League preparations which is a costly affair."

Nakauvadra thanked the team for its achievement and asked the fans to come in numbers and support the victory celebration.

"First of all we would like to thank the Lautoka soccer team for bringing fame and glory to Lautoka City," he said.

"I think our rugby union has not been performing well so far but our soccer brothers are doing really marvellous, they won the CvC, the national league and the recent IDC at home and now they will be going to prepare for the O-League."

Nakauvadra also hailed the ideas used by the team to sell calendars to generate money for the team.

"For the preparation of the O-League the team has come up with a very noble idea of selling calendars and I would like to take this time to urge all people of Lautoka to at least buy a calendar and support the Lautoka team."

"It's only $10 each, but it is for a worthy cause. I know getting sponsors these days is not easy even Lautoka rugby union team for the past two years have not been successful ecuring a sponsors.

"This good initiative for the soccer association if you want to use the Sugar City Mall to sell your calendars.
