ONE of the oldest golf tournaments in the Fiji Golf Club history, the Suva Open will be played at the Fiji Golf Club course this weekend.

The club has received 82 confirmation of the golfers who will compete in the two-day competition.

Chairperson of the match committee and tournament director Ofa Tabunakawai said she was expecting tough competition.

"It is a stroke event and we will have the golfers seeded in the A, B and C grades and the competition is for the men and women," she said.

"The tournament has been sponsored by RC Manubhai and we are thankful to them for their kind sponsorship.

"The tournament has been going as nearly as the club had been opened and it is a very old tournament and it has been managed and run by the Fiji Golf Club."

The golfers who are interested in the event can still compete in the competition even if they can get themselves registered on Saturday as well.

"We are hoping for the golfers to come and play from all over the country and we are hoping a good number would come and compete," she added.

"The golfers if they do not want to play two days then they can only play for one day."

The winner of the tournament will get a trophy.
