Lopamudra Raut: I want to prove my mettle in acting

This multi-faceted beauty queen leads a life of purpose — be it pushing the envelope for herself or associating with various causes. Lopamudra Raut (Miss United Continents 2016-2nd Runner-Up), who has walked ramps — both nationally and internationally - and made her presence felt in the reality space on TV, also believes that there is much more to beauty queens than looking pretty.

Though she is appreciated for her fashion and oomph quotient, Lopamudra's take on beauty is much more than skin-deep.

She says, "Unfortunately, Indians are a little unaware of the importance of beauty pageants. They don't realise that the experience empowers you and helps you evolve. We are not just models, but role models. There is so much more to us; we are associated with several causes. We are always in front of the camera and constantly judged. Perfection is just an imagination. I have always believed that imperfection is more beautiful and natural. It's okay to commit mistakes, but what is important is how you handle them. Beauty is all about resilience. I feel proud when people acknowledge my tremendous transformation and I have immense respect for these pageants. When I become a mother, I'll definitely push my daughter to participate in beauty pageants."

Lopamudra's career boasts of unconventional choices and she thrives on challenges. After Bigg Boss, she participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi, a show that tests its contestants' physical and mental strength.
