THE Navua soccer side is praying that striker Vineet Chand will be fit to feature for the side in the final round of the Vodafone Fiji FACT, which kicks off tomorrow at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Chand, who scored a stunner in their 1-all draw against Ba in the opening round of the tournament last weekend, is a key player in the young Navua side.
Team president Gopal Naidu said the physio had been monitoring the progress on Chand and they hoped to get him cleared to play in their second match against Nadroga on Friday.
"Vineet's injury is our only concern at the moment but we are quite optimistic he will get well before our second game."
Navua, which was less favoured in their opener against the Men in Black, has set a good platform for their remaining pool games.
Naidu said the credit goes to the hard work of the players in the Fiji Sun/G P Batteries National Football League matches.
He said they had been building the team since the start of this season and their final NFL match against Nadroga provided them with the perfect build-up for the Fiji FACT.
"We were working on our weak areas before the tournament had started. We worked on our defence and our midfield was a concern as well which has been covered with the return of Jesoni Takala," Naidu said.
"Fitness is one area we identified against Ba and we are working on that."
Meanwhile, Naidu has called for the support of the people of Navua.
He said Navua was a tournament team and if all went according to plan, they would be featuring in the semi-finals on Sunday.
"This is the team made from all Navua boys and we need you to rally behind us in this tournament."
