TO mark the birthday of Lord Nrsimha, Hare Krishna devotees distributed free food at the Suva Bus Station on Saturday.

In two hours, devotees handed out around 1000 serves of vegetable curry and rice.

Devotee Arun Padarath said the day was special for devotees around the world.

"Today, is the day Lord incarnated to protect those devoted to God," Mr Padarath said.

"Lord Nrsimha is half lion and half man. He is very fierce looking to those who are demonic and to those devoted to him, he is very soft."

Harry Narayan of Vunivau in Labasa, who was among those who received the food, described it as a wonderful service, saying no one would give that much food for free.
