SIMIONE Tamanisau says he wants to impress for Lautoka against his former team Rewa on his tournament debut for the Blues today.
Tamanisau will be in goal as they take on defending champions Rewa in the final game of round one of the Vodafone Fiji FACT at Churchill Park. He said this would be a grand opportunity for him to repay the faith of the Lautoka officials to lure him from Rewa. "I am looking forward to the game since this is my first tournament for Lautoka. It is a golden opportunity for me to impress for the Blues. This will be the first time for me to play against Rewa while playing for Lautoka," the man from Naisaumua said.
The police officer, who captained Rewa to win the Fiji FACT last year, said the Delta Tigers would not be an easy side to beat. Rewa will be under the guidance of Manoj Kumar in a bid to defend the title.
"I have a lot of respect for Rewa, they are a good team. They have a good mix of young and experienced players. I believe our coach has a good plan on how we can counter them tomorrow (today)," Tamanisau said.
In other matches, Nadroga takes on Tavua in the opening game at 11am, Nadi plays Suva at 12.30 and Ba faces Navua at 2pm. Tamanisau said whichever team that stuck to the game plan drawn by various coaches could gain maximum points after round one.
"This is not an easy for us but we have our aim as a team. If only we do everything right on the field, then we can come away with a win. I believe this applies to the other games as well, whichever team that commits less mistakes will win their games."
Ticket prices for today ranges from $12 (the main pavilion), $9 and $8 for pavilion A and C while the embankment cost $6.
