HE won his gold with only minutes away from his Sunday.
Seventh-day Adventist, Joseph Dunn of Wainimakutu Secondary School greeted his sabbath with a gold medal win in the senior boy's javelin.
He edged favourite Tevita Nabura of Ratu Kadavulevu School who settled for silver while Iosefo Bulavakarua of Lomaivuna High School claimed bronze.
"I want to thank God for the win because it was only through Him alone that I won gold today (yesterday)," Dunn said.
"I was playing with only few minutes away from my Sunday and I think it was a marvelous way to greet the Sabbath," he said.
Dunn added his months of dedication and committment paid off.
"The competition was very tough. I came here with the mission to win gold and I had no doubt about that. I am glad about the win and I wish my fellow athletes, who will be taking part in other events, all the best," Dunn said.
He thanked his coaches Toloi Kolinisau and Sikeli Kalokaloivalu who prepared him spiritually and physically fit prior to the games.
"I want to dedicate my win to my father who came here to watch me and also to my teammates. And I also wish the other athletes all the best in their events," Dunn said.
