THE police have assured the public they will be ready to provide assistance at the FIJI Showcase 2012 next week should the need arise.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the public needed to exercise caution while in large crowds.

"We would just like to warn the public to keep all their belongings close to them so there are no cases of theft," said Ms Naisoro.

"We understand that the organisers of FIJI Showcase 2012 will have their own security measures but the police will also be on hand to assist if there is a need."

With children sure to frequent the FIJI Showcase, Ms Naisoro said it was important for parents and guardians to ensure the safety of their children.

"The Laucala Bay area will be a hive of activity and we would just like to remind parents and guardians to closely monitor their children as they can get lost in the crowds," she said.

Total Events Company manager Loretta Jackson said the safety of patrons and their children was of top priority at the FIJI Showcase 2012 with the safety of children maximised by the Safe Kids Corner.
