RESIDENTS of Naodamu housing will this week launch it's first ever crime prevention committee in Labasa this weekend.
Committee member Monika Daurewa said the launching would include the inclusion of a billboard in the residential area imposing the message of fighting crime.
Mrs Daurewa said the committee had already met with residents of Naodamu discussing ways of working together to fight crime.
"This is a milestone for the residents of Naodamu and we are grateful for the support shown by the business community who have helped us fulfil our special day. The billboard will stand in front of the housing compound so all residents and passers-by will know from reading the message on it รน we are in serious business of fighting crime," Mrs Daurewa said.
She said the committee had already started working with the community policing team in holding awareness program for residents. We also have the support of the Public Rental Board team here in Labasa led us with this initiative. Everyone will be involved in this fight against crime and it is for the sake of creating a safe environment and residential area for the community," Mrs Daurewa said.
