THE Consumer Council of Fiji has received 499 complaints for the first quarter of this year รน complaints that amount to a monetary value of $1.1 million.
However, council chief executive Premila Kumar said more than half the complaints were resolved through mediation.
"A total of 283 cases were resolved through mediation amounting to more than $101, 000," said Mrs Kumar in a statement yesterday.
She said that 44 complaints were referred to the Small Claims Tribunal while 31 complaints were referred to enforcement agencies like the Commerce Commission and the Food Unit of the Health Ministry.
