Bainivalu 'with Nadi'

THE Fiji Football Association has clarified that defender Poasa Bainivalu is officially registered with the Nadi soccer side.

Bainivalu had made the move to Nadi earlier this season but returned to Lautoka after the recent floods in the Western Division and was seen training with the Lautoka side.

When questioned by Nadi Football Association president Jiten Kumar during the Vodafone Fiji FACT pool draws on Thursday, National League board secretary Jainendra Sukhu said Bainivalu will not be eligible to play for Lautoka.

"He (Bainivalu) is registered with Nadi under our records," Sukhu said.

"He will have to wait for the next transfer to open if he wants to make a move." he said.

Kumar said the reason for Bainivalu's return to Lautoka was still unclear.

"I was trying to contact all players during the floods because their houses were under water," he said.

"I could not contact all of them including Bainivalu and then all of a sudden I see his picture in the papers with the Lautoka soccer side."

He said he wanted Bainivalu to play in Nadi's upcoming games in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League.

"Bainivalu is a very good defender and he is still young and very active."

"I want him to play in the next few games because I believe he can strengthen our backline and help us win the games."
