FIJI Warriors teammates Josateki Nasilisili, Paula Tiko and Kolinio Vunaki helped Naitasiri record a convincing win in their Digicel Cup match against Ovalau yesterday.

Nasilisili and Tiko scored a brace of tries while Vunaki kicked seven points as the hosts ran away 37-17 winners against the visitors at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

The two other Warriors that featured for Naitasiri were Apisalome Ratuniyarawa and John Stewart.

Team coach Rev. Joji Rinakama said the move to use players that played in the Fiji Warriors team paid off.

"These players have gained a lot of experience playing in Australia and New Zealand in the recent Pacific Rugby Cup," Rinakama said.

"I think we did the right thing by putting them in the run-on team today."

Ovalau made the perfect start by scoring a try in the first 10 minutes of the fixture through Isireli Qalo.

However, there was no stopping the Naitasiri when they started scoring with flyhalf Anare Vakawaletabua.

Tiko and Nasilisili scored next and burly prop Joeli Veitayaki's try in the later stages of the half gave Naitasiri the bonus point even before half-time. Vetaia Nairubi scored for Ovalau before the half-time whistle.

In the second half Tiko and Nasilisili scored their second tries for the hosts and for the visitors former Naitasiri player and current Ovalau flanker Josaia Droka scored on full-time but it was too late.

Ovalau coach Luke Vula said silly mistakes cost them the match.

"Naitasiri took advantage of our mistakes to score tries and win the match," Vula said.

"In the second half half the players did not follow the game plan and that is why we lost today (yesterday)," he said.

Naitasiri will play Rewa while Ovalau will host Suva in round four of the Digicel Cup competition next weekend.
