Lions too strong

LABASA proved too good for neighbouring Savusavu team to win 2-0 in yesterday's Fiji Sun/ GP Battery National Football League.

The Babasiga boys got fans on their feet as they scored two goals at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Labasa was awarded a penalty kick fourteen minutes into the first half and Nalinesh Reddy was successful with it.

All efforts put up by the boys from the hidden paradise were met by a strong defence and aggressive play by Labasa.

At half-time, Labasa led 1-0.

Labasa's Ajesh Narayan kicked in the second goal five minutes before the game ended.

Although Labasa won the match, coach Epeli Levaci said he was not satisfied with the performance of his boys.

"We could have scored more goals but the boys wasted easy chances. That is an area we will work on," he said.

"Basic soccer is an area we need to polish with the boys so we will work on that before we take on Nadi next week."

Savusavu coach Ali Hussein was happy with his team's game labelling it as a ‘good one'.

"We don't have a full team here in Labasa so considering that, the seven boys who travelled to Labasa for the match played well.

"I had to get in five more boys from Labasa to make up my team so we did good." added Hussein.
