DAVNEEL Kumar awed the crowd during the Suva Zone One meet at the National Stadium yesterday.

The Fourth Former of Rishikul Sanatan College surprised the seven other runners to win the 200 metres junior boys final.

"I never expected to win the race but now I know that my dedication and hard work have finally paid off," he said.

He dedicated the win to those that supported him the most.

"I dedicate this win to my family, my friends (Elmos crew) and my principal for the understanding and support that they have given me throughout my preparations and I wouldn't have done it without them," Kumar said.

The fifteen year-old said he was certain that he would once again win at the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.

"I will awe the crowd again at the Fiji Finals because my training schedule is on par and I don't doubt that I will put Rishikul on top,.

"People underestimated me but I proved them all wrong. They should never have that mindset," he said.
