SOME $195,000 worth of food products has been given to the Flood Relief Emergency Appeal for people in flood-affected areas.

Nestle Fiji Limited and CJ Patel Company has partnered with the Southern Cross Food Limited to assist people with urgent need for food in the Western Division.

Southern Cross Food has given 3000 cartons of Maggi Noddle and Nestle Fiji has made a contribution of 760 cartons of Milo 200 gram packs.

Jean-Michel Lejeune, the Fiji business manager for Nestle Fiji said the company would continue to support those who had been affected by the flood.

"The safety and health of people and the community we serve are of great concern to us, particularly in times of disaster such as this," he said.

"We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all those who have been affected by this disaster," Mr Lejeune said.

"This will be a prolonged challenge and we will continue to monitor the situation and stay in touch with the Disaster Management Committee to provide appropriate support," he added.

Southern Cross Food chief executive Vishwa Sharma said their contribution was in addition to the substantial cash given to assist with the disaster in January.

"We recognise that the urgent need now is food, so we are pleased to be able to help with the donation of Maggi noodles," Mr Sharma said.

"Our thoughts are with all our employees and those that have been affected by the flood, we will continue to do what we can to help with the recovery."

Meanwhile, the 3000 cartons of Maggi Noodles is valued at $107,000 while 760 cartons of Milo is worth $86,000.
