Fun-filled day

MORE than 600 youth members and their families in Catholic and Methodist Churches from Veisari to Naboro converged at the Montfort Boys Town grounds yesterday to take part in the first-ever Easter Sports Day.

The day was filled with fun activities centered around netball, touch rugby, volleyball and sevens rugby competitions that had the youths smiling.

Organiser Unaisi Likuwaqatabu said Easter sports day was focused on youths socialising with their neighbors in surrounding areas.

"The main reason is to get the youths to make friends with each other in different parishes and churches. There's no competition involved," Likuwaqatabu said.

She said the day was also a good way to promote fitness in youths and appropriate sporting behaviours.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (Ucinamonu) won the volleyball, netball and sevens rugby over Saint Augustine Parish (two), Saint Michael Parish (Wailekutu) and Saint Paul Parish while Saint Paul won the touch rugby competition.
