POLICE reported a quiet Easter weekend.

Except for the murder of an Asian man in Suva and the attack on a health inspector in Nadi, the rest of the country received no major reports of crime.

Police media officer north Luke Rawalai said police patrols over the weekend were a success.

"We patrolled residential areas on foot with officers walking from Tuatua, Delailabasa and into town area," he said.

He added that police also conducted checks on motorists.

"It was all part of the Easter weekend patrol and we thank the community for supporting police in our work over the weekend."

In Suva, random checkpoints were erected yesterday to check on motorists and picnic-goers.
