HEAVY rain over the Easter weekend in Vanua Levu has closed off some roads.
The wet weekend caused landslides along a road in Bua and flooded crossings in Macuata and Cakaudrove.
A Ministry of Information release stated that a portion of the Dromoka road in Bua slipped.
"But the road is still open to all traffic. A temporary access has been provided and reinstatement of works of permanent access in progress and expected to complete tomorrow (today)," it said. "The Bucalevu Road low level crossing is underwater and the approach has been washed out thus is closed to all traffic. Work on stand down and will resume tomorrow (today) as authorities are waiting for the approach to dry up."
It added that the Nasaqa low level crossing, towards Dogoru, has been under water with the approach washed out.
"Wairiki Road low level crossing (near Suweni and Navakuru villages) is still underwater and both approaches have been washed out."
