NAVY and Corrections continued their dominance in the Security Forces Volleyball Association (SFVA) competition winning its Easter tournament at the Suva Corrections Centre in Korovou yesterday.-

Navy, which has been dominating the men's competition defeated D Brothers by three straight sets to win the $1000 prize-money.-

In the women's grade, Corrections retained their fine form to demolish Army three sets to one and win the $1000 prize-money as well.-

SFVA assistant secretary Viliame Waqavuka said they were satisfied with the performance of the teams in their opening major tournament following the revival of the association after 15 years.-

"The association was formed way back in 1990 and was functional until 1997. We revived the association on January 6 and this was our first major tournament," he said.-

"We have the RFMF, Fiji Police, Fiji Navy, Fiji Correction Services, National Fire Authority and the Immigration department in our association.-

"Altogether there were 21 teams in the men's and women's division at this Easter tournament."-

Waqavuka said this tournament had set a good platform for the association to organise more tournaments later in the year.-

He said they would be hosting another major event in October.-

"It has been a learning process for us on how to host tournaments like this and we are happy that everything went well," Waqavuka said.-

"We saw competitive games being played in the past two days of the competition."-

Meanwhile, the SFVA will be ending their current season this month and start with their new season in September.-

"We are looking forward to another new season in September where we will be affiliated to the Fiji Volleyball Association and then we might be able to enter into the Vanua Challenge, Vulaca and Easter Championship," Waqavuka said.-
