SYDNEY - A furious Des Hasler slammed referees Gavin Badger and Ben Cummins after his Canterbury side went down 20-10 to South Sydney on Friday.

The Bulldogs slumped to their second NRL defeat in three games in front of a record Souths' attendance of 35,221 at ANZ Stadium, with Andrew Everingham scoring twice for the Rabbitohs.

Matt King also crossed and Adam Reynolds kicked four goals for the hosts, with Steve Turner and David Stagg going over for the Bulldogs.

Hasler was upset at the 7-2 penalty count against his side and castigated the officials for penalising Ennis for not putting his arm around James Graham's shoulder in the scrum.

"I cannot understand a 7-2 penalty count. 7-2 is not right," Hasler said.

"Imagine penalising a fellow in a scrum for not putting his arm around the shoulder.

"That's absolutely ridiculous. That's a stupid penalty, it's an unwarranted and it doesn't make sense."

Ennis was also put on report for a high shot on Reynolds and Hasler was convinced the decision would not be backed up by the match review committee.
