Work begins on project

THE proposed Seaqaqa and Nasarawaqa rural electrification project is expected to be completed next year, says Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica.

"We have started pegging the spots for electric posts between Seaqaqa and Nasarawaqa in Bua and the rest of the work will fall in place as we proceed," he said.

"The work is part of the electrification project with government and the Fiji Electricity Authority sharing the total cost of $14 million."

It was earlier reported the government initially planned an electrification project for the Dreketi area but that changed with a move to supply power to businesses in Nasarawaqa.

The government had allocated $7.3m for the project.
