THE annual Easter Open Tennis championship has been cancelled.
The four-day tournament was expected to start at the regional courts in Nadovu, Lautoka this Friday.
FTA committee member and head coach Naga Reddy said they had cancelled the tournament because of the recent floods.
He said many participants had not been able to train for the tournament because of the bad weather conditions which is affecting the whole of Fiji group from last week.
Reddy said the tournament would now be staged next year.
"The Easter Open has been scratched from this year's schedule," Reddy said.
"The recent floods have affected many people who are facing a lot of hardships.
"We hope that everyone affected will recover quickly and get back on with their normal lives.
"The FTA will now look forward to the LICI Suva Open.
"The dates of the tournament are yet to be finalised."
FTA will host its biggest tournament in late May, the 2012 Fiji Open. The tournament is expected to draw many overseas players.
