Be fit, says Vu

FIJI under-21 netball coach Moape Vu has urged his injured players to maintain their fitness prior to the final trial this month.

Vu earlier stated that some of the players in the squad are carrying niggling injuries.

"All these injured players have to look after themselves really well so they can fully recover in time for the final trials.

"We will not monitor them but they have to look after their wellbeing so nothing will affect their performance during the trials.

"Right now it is important that every player must be fit for the trials otherwise they will definitely miss selection," he said.

Vu said after the final trails if the players were still injured then they would face difficulties as the training would be very tough.

"I do not want any of my players to be injured because after the final trials, training will be much tougher so we do not want to train injured players. They still got time to recover and I hope for the best during the upcoming trials," Vu said.

From the initial 40-member squad that was earlier named, only 31 players will be part of the trials later this month.

Vu said some of the players who were dropped were disciplined while others pulled out because of personal commitments.

"The remaining 31 players will be part of the trials, from there I will select my final 20 before I will further reduce the number to 15 players in June."

He said players had shown improvement at training.

Vu confirmed that the Fiji U21 side would play Vanuatu in June.
