WHILE normal power supply is expected to be back next week, Fiji Electricity Authority will be rationing power in the Central and Western divisions.
FEA chief executive Hasmukh Patel said they could not carry out maintenance work on major power transmitters because of the weather situation.
He said the transmitter that provided power from Wailoa had fallen because of a landslide and would take a few weeks to rebuild the tower.
"We have no choice but to ration power supply and our diesel generators in Kinoya, Deuba and Korovou will be providing temporary back-up for the Central Division," Mr Patel said.
"We can not attend to the problem right away because of the weather condition and most of the roads have been closed but we hope to restore power by the end of the week," he said.
