TRAFFIC was held up yesterday morning after a landslide along the main road in Bua on Sunday night.
Divisional Planning Officer north Alipate Bolalevu said a portion of the main road at Lekutu slipped because of the heavy downpour causing disruption in traffic flow.
Motorists stuck at Lekutu were those travelling towards Nabouwalu from Labasa and vice versa.
"The road engineers have attended to the road damage, constructing a temporary thoroughfare on the side of the main road to allow for traffic flow.
"We should have that done today (yesterday) while repairing the portion of the main road that was damaged by landslide," Mr Bolalevu said.
However, he said there were no major reports of damage received in the north as a result of continuous wet weather.
"We are monitoring the situation in Vanua Levu on a skeleton staff after a tropical depression warning.
"The team has been on duty from the weekend and so far the north has been blessed with no reports of damage as a result of the bad weather," Mr Bolalevu said.
