A FAMILY in Navuso is reeling from the damage to their two-bedroom house that was yesterday under four feet of water.

"Most of our stuff are damaged, our beds, chairs, even food and other stuff as well," said 45-year-old housewife, Sushila Devi.

Ms Devi said her husband Satish Prasad was up all night on Sunday trying to tie up the items they could salvage.

"We're staying at a neighbour's place at the moment and my husband has been at our house all day and only comes to sleep late at night when he feels that everything's safe," she said.

Homes at the Navuso settlement off Nausori were under water when The Fiji Times visited the area yesterday. "Even though we are used to floods, it hurts every time because of our hard work all washed away by the floods," Ms Devi said.

The Dilkusha Boys School has been opened as an evacuation centre for those living in the area and the Commissioner Central's Office has urged everyone to prioritise, save their lives and relocate to the centres provided.
