GREEN House was crowned DAV Girls athletics inter-house new winners at the National Stadium yesterday.

The new winners pushed last year's champions Yellow into third, with Blues on second spot followed by Red House in fourth place.

DAV Girls College is out to win most of the field events in the Suva Zone 2 and the Coca-Cola Games.

"Since we are part of the biggest zone which is zone 1, we will not only be concentrating on track events but our main aim is to feature in most of the field events," Head of PEMAC department Rohit Ritesh Sharma said.

He is very optimistic about the 40 athletes that have qualified for the upcoming zone.

Sharma said the tremendous support from parents had been the greatest help to the students giving them the drive and motivation to compete not only at the inter-house but further on.

Points:

1st: Green - 30 medals

2nd: Blue - 25 medals

3rd: Yellow - 23 medals

4th: Red - 8 medals

DAV Girls' best athlete of the year Meredani Marama is confident in winning a gold medal in this year's Coca-Cola Games.

Marama always had the passion for athletics and she amazed her coach when she won the 100m junior girls during the inter-house yesterday.

Sharma said, Meredani was a very hardworking girl and she was an all-rounder in sports.

The Naitasiri lass who featured in the Zone 2 meet last year is keen on making a comeback, but this time to feature in the Coke Games as well.

"I hear people talk about my training but I hope to prove them wrong someday", Marama said.

The fourth former said she would be giving back to everyone that supported her by winning gold this year.

Sharma said he believed in her full participation and would be training her every afternoon till the Zone meet at the National stadium later this month.
