THE total number of civil servants who will retire on Thursday is expected to increase, says Public Service Commissioner permanent secretary Parmesh Chand.
He said the 1614 figure given given last week was being verified.
Last week Mr Chand said civil servants must abide by the State Services Decree on the retirement age.
"Based on details received from all the government ministries, departments and agencies, 1614 people are retiring," he said. "They have been advised by the Decree and have to make preparations for it.
The PSC issued a circular saying the 55 years retirement should be implemented this Thursday.
