Update: 4:34PM THE Methodist Church in Fiji raised more than $2million after the solevu and choir competition two weeks ago.
According to the communiqu issued by the church today, the church raised $2,285, 606.48 during the weeklong celebrations at Furnival Park.
This included $256,046.92 from the opening by the church stewards, $29,446.98 from gifts, $422,687.62 from the choir competition and $1, 577, 424.96 from the connexional levies from the 51 divisions.
Last week, church assistant general secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu said they were happy with the amount of money raised at the week long competition.
He said the number of choirs competing at the annual event always increased every year and that was a good sign.
