SUVA Grammar School (SGS) is the new Suva secondary schools netball champion after edging Adi Cakobau School (ACS) 14-9 in the final on Saturday.
It was sweet revenge for the Anna Puamau-coached side after the Grammar girls lost to ACS in the Vulaono Shield challenge.
Puamau said her girls, led by captain Kini Veilawa, worked hard for the win.
"We didn't have normal training to prepare for the final because of mid-term exams last week. The girls were motivated to win because for some of them it's going to be their last year in secondary school.''
"The final was a tough one for us because we had some new players that played for the first time. There were a few from forms three and four whom we are trying to develop. Our goal shooter Cecilia Sorbi played really well for a first timer and scored most of the points,'' she said.
Puamau said their focus would now shift to the Fiji Secondary Schools meet.
Gospel High School beat ACS to claim the under - 17 title but the Sawani girls beat Cathedral Secondary School in the U15 final.
