There is always room for improvement and cooperation with non-governmental organisations.
Birdlife International regional director Don Stewart assured that they will continue to collaborate with other NGOs in efforts to conserve Fiji's biodiversity.
Mr Stewart said after all, the job was too big for any one of the conservation NGOs so cooperation was a must in order to achieve sustainable results.
He was responding to recommendations made in the Annette Lees and Suliana Siwatibau report 'Review and Analysis of Fiji's Conservation Sector'.
The academics of the Austral Foundation recommended there was a great need for the local and international NGOs to work together to achieve better results in sustaining the natural resources.
According to the report 'Getting the NGOs to work together is like herding cats' and the competition for funds was said to be intense.
Mr Stewart agreed that there was definitely room for improvement but pointed out that competition between NGOs for resources was not intense and unhealthy as described in the report.
"While biodiversity in Fiji and elsewhere in the Pacific region for that matter is widely regarded as being in peril, I don't believe that the situation concerning conservation NGOs in Fiji is as dire as outlined.
"There are many instances of ongoing collaborative efforts between us, such as in the field of protected areas to name just one," said Mr Stewart.
He said Birdlife had a good network with other NGOs in terms of raising and the use of funds.
