RATEPAYERS have requested Suva City Council to provide them with garbage bags for the disposal of their green waste.
Chandra Pal, of Fletcher Road in Vatuwaqa, said he's had difficulty managing green waste.
He said it would help if the council could provides at least two garbage bags.
"In that way the rubbish will be more organised and our compound won't look untidy," Mr Pal said. "Now since they have a new policy of collecting rubbish from within the compound, it will be a hassle carrying it to trucks on the road."
He said the ratepayers end up paying about $1000 annually and the provision of garbage bags was the least SCC could do.
Ratepayers in Namadi Heights and Tamavua have made similar requests.
SCC officials say they're not in a position to distribute plastic bags as that is a decision of the Central Board of Health.
They say that under the law, the distribution of garbage bags is prohibited.
