THE People's Charter makes it all right to throw out an elected Government because two leaders could not sit and resolve between them certain differences, academic Doctor Warden Narsey said.
"How disgraceful," he said at the debate organised by the Fiji Media Council over whether the People's Charter was good for Fiji.
"Why couldn't the military bring the two leaders together?. They're saying something Rabuka said that they will not hold any talks or dialogue until he joins the Charter,"
Dr Narsey said the problems Fiji encounters today comes as a result of the military a group armed with guns at taxpayers' expense.
Dr Narsey said the expenses incurred by the military were questioned by the non-government organisations which now had the support of the "gang" on their side.
But Joseva Serulailagi of the NCBBF said the military wanted to return to barracks. Speaking for the affirmative team, he said: "Don't kid yourselves that the RFMF is responsible for the coups. That's far from the truth."
He said those outside including those that were passionate defenders of democracy should be scrutinised for their role in Fiji's coups.
In his summing up, Mr Serulagilagi said the presentation from the negative team was nothing new.
He said just because the Constitution was silent about a People's Charter did not stop them from forming one.
"The People's Charter came from the interim government," Mr Serulagilagi said, adding that it was the President that formed the charter.
"No other Government has done consultation this way,."
Mr Serulagilagi said members of the negative team may not agree with him in public over his team's views, but they would when they meet him in private.
