THE three-day Txt Times initiative to gather people's views on whether "the People's Charter for Change, Peace and Progress is good for Fiji" is gaining momentum.
The Txt Times initiative organised with the help of Vodafone Fiji asks mobile users to send in their view on the Charter.
It will run all weekend until 6pm on Sunday, April 13. Vodafone users can text their view to 1869 while Inkk users can text to 446. The results of the three-day poll will be publicised in The Fiji Times on Tuesday, April 15.
The Fiji Times hopes the initiative will give members of the public a chance to have their say on the Charter, and allow for wider discussion of the issue.
The initiative coincided with Fiji Times Online's launch yesterday of a special section providing extensive coverage of the Fiji Media Council Forum's debate on the Charter. The Forum saw two teams speak for and against the People's Charter. The Affirmative team was made up of NCBBF members Joseva Serulagilagi, Lorine Tevi and Pundit Kamlesh Arya. The team for the Negative was made up of Dr Wadan Narsey, Richard Naidu and Tupou Draunidalo.
On fijitimes.com.fj, MaiTV has helped provide access to video feeds of the six speakers at the Fiji Media Council Forum.
The texts of their speeches can also be downloaded, with links to extensive analysis, news stories and feedback on the issue.
The Fiji Media Council Forum will also be broadcast in its entirety on Fiji One from 9am to 11am on Sunday.
