Serua all for People's Charter

Friday, April 11, 2008

SERUA province supports the proposed People's Charter.

Provincial council chairman Ratu Samu Waqanaceva said it was important that the province knew the charter paved the way forward for the country.

The province has submitted it's submissions on what it thinks should be formulated in the charter.

Charter media rep Filimoni Kau said at the Serua provincial meeting the charter would be formulated by October.

"A lot has been said but I want to make it clear that we will have a document ready by October and the election by March next year."

He said a referendum would take place to determine if the people endorsed the charter or not after October.

"It is something the charter secretariat is working on.

"This charter will be a guideline for future governments to look at," Mr Kau said.
