WAITAKERE United striker Benjamin Totori leads the race for the golden boot award after slamming eight goals in two matches for the Solomon Islands.
Totori, also the leading top scorer in the New Zealand Football Championship, has awed fans with his stylish footwork and clinical finishing.
He scored a hat-trick against Papua New Guinea in the opening match and then pumped in five goals against Cook Islands on Monday. Playing for Youngheart Manuatu in the same competition last year, Totori netted 24 times.
Solomon Islands team manager Robert Gerea had earlier tipped Totori to continue his fine form into the tournament.
Gerea said Totori was the asset in the Solomon side.
Totori is no stranger in Fiji having represented Nasinu in previous local tournaments.
Fiji's Malakai Tiwa is in second spot in the goals scoring section.
The Ba midfielder scored a hat trick against Papua New Guinea on Monday.
