THE Fiji Human Rights Commission media report is not worth the paper it is printed on, says deposed Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes (pictured).
Describing the report as "trash", he said its author, Dr James Anthony, was paranoid.
"It's a hyped up version of Dr Shaista Shameem's other claim to fame, which is the Election Inquiry, based on FLP's unproven complaints which the inquiry accepted as fact.
"The language and tone used by Dr Anthony, coupled with suggestions of cancelling expatriates permits because they somehow dominated our media only serves to expose the very shallow and limited knowledge he had of the subject he was engaged by Dr Shameem to cover.
"If in fact the intent was to cover it properly?
"Some of his accusations and conclusions are not worth the paper it's printed and I for one would like to know how much the Fiji Human Rights Commiss-ion paid out for trash' like that," Mr Beddoes said.
"Our media, like most of us, are not without its faults and shortcomings, but by and large, they do a good job, and in recent times, their determination and to a large extent their courage to expose the truth, and report the stories under extremely difficult circumstances are worthy of our commendation, not condemnation as doctors Shameem and Anthony are attempting to do," he said.
