TI: Disclose radio CEO qualifications

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Update: 12.47pm TRANSPARENCY International (TI) is calling on Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited (FBCL) to make public its recruitment process in the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Riyaz Saiyed-Khaiyum.

TI Fiji believes given that the appointee is the brother of the interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Saiyad Khaiyum, public disclosure of the appointment process with qualifications and experiences of other candidates and names of the interview panel would clear any doubts of nepotism, if any.

''TI Fiji would like to remind the interim government that for the sake of our economy and government's integrity in governance, it should focus on strengthening public confidence on how government business is conducted with impartiality and honesty,'' Hari Pal, the chairman of Transparency International said.

FBCL chairman, Daniel Whippy said a press conference tomorrow would address issues relating to the appointment.
