THE Fiji Body Building members are aiming to increase the profile of the sport within Fiji.
Following a successful Fiji Games competition held in May, body builders continue to train on a daily basis.
The next major event program is the South Pacific Games in Samoa later this month, where Fiji will send representatives Ben Saqata and Pio Cavuilata.
In the interim body building athletes training daily have formed a group which is performing regularly at the Fiji Malthouse on Jerusalem Road in Nabua.
Performing in front of a live audience provides the athletes the necessary exposure and confidence required for top competition. On Thursday night regular patrons at the Malthouse were excitedly applauding throughout the debut performance which saw the group "Flexy" go through their set routines which was followed by each member performing a free style' segment to music.
SPG representative Ben Saqata led the four-man group which includes Fiji Body Building members Alusio Ligavai and Sekaia Vude. Solomon Islander and University of the South Pacific student Francis Ide is a member of Flexy' who trains regularly with Ben Saqata.
Francis is a member of the Solomon Islands team to take part in SPG and is grateful of the opportunity to train and perform alongside the Fiji athletes while studying.
