THE three member United States congressmen are expected to arrive in the country today and included in their agenda is a meeting with the interim Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau. Ratu Epeli confirmed this.
Not divulging issues he would discuss with the delegation, he only said "he would be available for that meeting".
On Friday, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama welcomed the visiting US congressmen. He extended his regrets for not being able to meet with the delegation because of prior engagements in a letter addressed to Congressman Donald Paynes, head of the US congressional delegation.
He said the congressmen would meet Ratu Epeli. Commodore Bainimarama said Fiji was honoured with the visit as it provided an ideal opportunity for the interim Government to brief the delegation about the reasons which led to the events of December 5 and the measures in place to take Fiji forward in terms of economic recovery, good governance issues and a return to parliamentary democracy.
