WHILE many people are concerned about the extension of the Public Safety Regulation, some think safety of businesses and the general community should be priority.
"We view this from a different perspective," Fiji Retailers Association president, Himmat Lodhia said.
He said since the military had withdrawn from check points, there seemed to be an increase in crime.
Mr Lodhia said the association would encourage more checkpoints but with a friendly approach.
"I believe businesses and the genuine people of this country would feel safe and secure with soldiers manning checkpoints.
"We suggest a friendly approach in such places, so that visitors coming into the country feel that friendly atmosphere."
Though business people are struggling in light of the political situation, he said the association was glad visitors were still arriving in the country.
Interim Minister for Tourism, Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau said she received the same sentiments.
