The army supports the multi-party government, say Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
At a press conference at Queen Elizabeth Barracks yesterday, Commodore Bainimarama said he supported the Laisenia Qarase-led multi-party Goverment and did not want it to resign.
But, in the same breath, he said the Government must change the direction "our ship is heading".
Commodore Bainimara-ma reiterated his calls for good governance, saying claims the RFMF wanted to lead the country were not true.
He warned people of the Government's trademark of stirring emotions to its own advantage in times of crisis.
He said the indigenous people were fed with lies in the form of controversial Qoliqoli and Unity Bills.
Commodore Bainimarama said the people of Fiji had been waiting for many things promised by the Government, like water in their taps, issues of poverty and unemployment and rising crime rates, to be addressed.
He said this was where the military came in, saying soldiers had died restoring peace in this country.
