* GOLD Coast in Queensland, Australia, will host the the 21st Commonwealth Games from April 4 to 15.

Gold Coast, which is located south of Brisbane and north of the state of New South Wales, is a popular tourist destination, with Surfer's Paradise being the hub of the tourist activity.

* The 2018 games will be the largest sporting and cultural event to tak place within Gold Coast City.

* More than 6500 athletes and team officials from 71 nations and territories will compete in 18 sports and 7 para-sports in the 11-day event.

Fiji will compete in 12 sports and make its appearance in men's rugby 7s after 12 years.
