THE 2018 Interhash event to be held in May is expected to attract more than 3000 runners into the country.

The event to be held from May 25-27 should rake in millions of dollars in tourism revenue.

Organisers have also released the program for three-day event.

The Interhash is a biennial event which is regarded as the granddaddy of periodic international Hash House Harriers event.

Hashers from different groups from all over the globe will get together to run and socialise.

The world's first Interhash took place in Hong Kong in 1978 with an attendance of more than 800 runners.

The last Interhash was in Bali in 2016 and it attracted more than 5500 participants.

Nadi Hash House Harriers led by Doctor Ram Raju was actively involved in bidding for the Interhash to be hosted in the country for the past 10 years.

"Finally in Bali Interhash 2016 we successfully won the bid to host the event against two other Asian giants, Malaysia and Indonesia." Dr Raju said.

"The objective of this huge event is to promote physical fitness among our members and to persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel."
