FIJI Warriors continued its powerful performance in the 2018 World Rugby Pacific Challenge when they thrashed Junior Japan 28-3 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

While the Senirusi Seruvakula-coached side struggled against the tough Japanese defence in the first half, they managed to lift their game and dominate the later stages of the match.

Japan coach Satoru Endo was disappointed with the performance of his team. He said their performance wasn't good enough.

"In the last 10 minutes we tried so hard but we made a lot of mistakes. We will go back and re-look at our game plan and come up with something good before we meet Tonga A," he said.

Seruvakula said it was a tough match against the Japanese and they expected it to be that way.

"The boys really stepped up as the game went on and they kept their composure and maintained possession," he said. "We played according to our game plan.'

Fullback Inia Tawalo scored the first try for Fiji which was converted by Serupepeli Vularika to lead 7-0.

Junior Japan opened their account through a penalty to trail 3-7.

Hooker Veremalua Vugakoto scored Fiji's second try which was converted to extend their lead to 14-3 at half-time.

Leading by example captain Mosese Voka scored their third try which was converted by Vularika to give them a handy 21-3 lead.

Former Fiji Airways Flying Fijians halfback Frank Lomani sealed the game for the hosts after a finishing off a backine move. Vularika converted the try to see the Warriors winning 28-3 at the final whistle.

Fiji will play against Tonga this Saturday.
