AUSTRALIA-BASED swimming coach Christopher Wright will assist Fijian swimmers competing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia next month.

Fiji Swimming head coach Sharon Pickering-Smith said Wright's knowledge in swimming would help bring out the best in the swimmers.

"I will depart for Australia along with three swimmers which includes Matelita Buadromo, Taichi Vakasama and Epeli Rabua," Pickering-Smith said.

"The swimmers will join Christopher Wright, who is one of the Australian coaches, who has been assisting us in the training program.

"We would do eight swimming sessions and a couple of gym sessions in Australia in our preparation."

USA-based swimmers Cheyenne Rova and Paul Elaisa will join the team in Australia at the end of the month.

"Taichi is still young and it was a great achievement for him last year and he is maintaining his level up," she said.

"It was the age group and it would be open category for him so it is going to be tough."

The team will leave for Australia on March 18.
