The widow complained of feeling unwell and next day a doctor was called in. He lanced the wound, but as she did not get on as well as she desired, she went into nursing home, where she died, a week after the original cut. The doctor said death was due to septic poisoning set up by a scratch. It showed how one should be careful with the smallest wound.

If shipments cannot be made from Fiji in the very near future, merchants would cease buying copra.
