A well-known household brand name in Fiji has re-branded the company logo after 45 years. Parent company of Swits-n-Snax (Fiji) Ltd, Bhikhabhai and Company Ltd launched the BBC brand in early 1970s has now re-branded to BBC Bhuja.

Company CEO/ executive director Shashi Kant Lad said it was time the company re-branded their logo and re-looked at their packaging especially the information made available to their customers.

"Today the consumers seek more information about any food product they consume," said Mr Lad.

"With time, we keep innovating to deliver our promise to our customers for fresh, quality and natural product. The taste of the product has not changed when we started with new packaging. Our products remain as 100 per cent vegetarian, made from natural ingredients, a source of protein, gluten free and cholesterol free."

Mr Lad said there were no changes made to the recipe when they shifted from old packaging to new packaging.

"This is our brand promise which we strive to upkeep," he said.

"The new packaging material is made up of thicker material thus giving longer shelf life. The new packaging has more product information especially nutrient information panel (NIP). NIP information show the average amount of energy (in kilojoules or both in kilojoules and kilocalories), protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium (a component of salt) in the food product. They were independently tested by certified test labs. These changes allow our products to also penetrate into export markets thus adding to growth of our business and community by creating more employment."

He said the company never used artificial flavouring as it did not conform to their business values.

"Nowadays, we have more gluten intolerant and health conscious consumers," said Mr Lad.

"We do realise that we have a big part to play in our customers' health wellbeing. Our manufacturing facility nor any of the products produced or ingredients contain any gluten. This is why our product is gluten free i.e. it does not include the grains wheat, barley, rye, or hybrids of these grains."

Today, the company is still a 100 per cent family owned business. Managed by third and fourth generation family members, they proudly continue the tradition of manufacturing the finest quality of Indian Snacks (Nimkeen or Bhuja). The brand name BBC BHUJA is owned by Swits-n-Snax (Fiji) Ltd, a large volume manufacturing business and is sister company of Bhikhabhai And Company Ltd.
