CHOOSING healthy foods is important when you're doing your grocery shopping.

These were the words of Unity Fiji party leader Savenaca Narube.

Mr Narube, a strong advocate of healthy living says eating the right food such as fruits and vegetables promoted health and helped reduce risks of certain diseases.

Originally from Cuvu Village in Nadroga with maternal links to Naikeleyaga, Kabara in Lau, the retiree resides in Namadi Heights with his wife, daughter and three grandsons whose father passed away four years ago.

The father of three was the former governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance and had worked at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC in the US.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Canterbury University in New Zealand and a Masters of Commerce with Honours from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

This week the 63-year-old shares his shopping experience with Times Shopper and emphasises the importance of eating the right amount of food.
