LOOKING for a new product to style and design your home while keeping it safe and secure?

Hong Kong Door and Window Company has unveiled a new product designed to suit all climates and conditions.

Palm Eco boards are said to be fireproof, waterproof and resistant to termites too.

Company managing director Zhenming Wu said the product was made from mineral-like stone which is then processed and combined with fibre.

"So this fibre is natural and all the material used to manufacture it is from natural resources and the manufacturer is using a high tech formula to create this product," he said.

"It doesn't contain chemicals so this is safe for humans. It is not toxic and doesn't contain any hazardous materials.

"So this product is called a green product, it is environmentally friendly as we are talking about health and environment.

"Secondly, this board is fireproof and it has a high fireproof rating.

"They can withstand fire for two hours and the reason it can do this is because the burning point is 800 to 1000 degrees.

"Cement only has 400 to 500 degree burning point so this means it is double that of cement."

He said in many instances, the boards could also protect steel and cement if they were placed on top.

"This has been tested by universities and the international community so this product is internationally recognised.

"Palm Eco is passed in America, European Union, Australia, Singapore, China, Malaysia and the Philippines - so this is accepted worldwide.

"They are not only fireproof but also waterproof.

"They are also termite proof, hurricane proof and combines all the advantages and is safe for human beings."

Mr Wu said Palm Eco boards were also great for finishing and could be used indoors as well as outdoors.

The boards are imported by Mr Wu's company from China.
